Hello,

My name is Jennifer Hartigan and I am a therapist. I was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. I now live in Gorham, Maine, after living in Florida for 16 years. I have been in the "helping professions" for over 30 years. I put myself through Practical Nursing School in 1969. I was not sure I would like nursing, and rather than investing 3 or 4 years to become a Registered Nurse, I opted for LPN school. Nursing is a very hard, demanding profession and my hat is off to those readers who are Nurses. I became an addiction counselor after my own struggles with alcohol. Many of my clients were dually diagnosed and I needed more education to treat them so I earned a B.S in psychology in 1994, followed by a Master of Social Work in 1997. Currently I work in a Corrections setting, as the Director of a Therapeutic Community and Transitional Treatment Program.
