Hi,

Although I've been nicknamed Miki since age 11, my birthname is Marlene, after the famous Dietrich. I am a first generation American, the only child of 2 European refugees who lost their loved ones in the Holocaust. I am a rarity, in that I was born and raised on the island of Manhattan in the state of NY, the world's melting pot. I have been a practicing Social Worker/psychotherapist for over 20 years but also had another career as a successful Account Executive, selling contract furniture to corporations, designers and architects. On a part-time basis, I also was a free-lance model in my younger years. I recently left a position as Clinical Director of a Mental Health Center to give more time to developing my private practice. I am an R-CSW and a CASAC (substance abuse specialist) and a graduate of Columbia University in the state of NY. I specialize in the following areas: 

• substance abuse and recovery issues
• anxiety
• depression
• PTSD (trauma issues)
• people's general life adjustments. 

I also have experience in eldercare management. I consider myself to be a well-seasoned professional and take my work and responsibility to others very seriously.

My PSN "sistahs" (and colleagues) play an important part in my daily life. We generate a steady flow of group e-mail and have found the time to keep up with each other's lives since our groups' inception (almost 3 yrs ago?). Amazing!

Although not religious, I have always been a spiritual person. I believe in the power of prayer and meditation. I love music, photography, writing, dancing, nature and life. I value every breath I take and am grateful to be here.
