INNY
Hi,
My
name is Ginny. I am 53 years old,
but feel 33. I live, work and play
in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I’ve been since relocating from Long
Island, NY almost six years ago. I
currently share my home with my husband, Alan, my stepson, our three dogs and
two parrots. Our home is never
quiet, but it is filled with fun and love!
It’s
hard to believe, but less than five years ago, I was totally computer
illiterate. The Internet has become
so important in my life. First I
met my husband through the Internet, and later during that same year, I met my
PSN sistahs!
I
have been a therapist for over 21 years and have never, for a moment, regretted
this career decision. In New York,
I was the Executive Director of non-profit, community-based counseling agency,
which I was hired, to start in 1980. We
did a lot of work with substance abusers and their families, as well as issues
related to substance abuse. It was
at Reflection (the name of my agency) that I developed my interest and
experience in trauma based disorders, depression and anxiety and life
transitions.
Currently,
I have a private practice here in Fort Lauderdale where I
specialize in the areas mentioned above. I
also do pre and post adoption counseling as well as adoption home studies.
I am eclectic in my approach and was recently certified as an EMDR
therapist. EMDR is a very effective technique which works with a wide variety of
problems. If you have any interest
in or questions about EMDR, I invite you to go to their website which we have
listed here on the PSN site under my favorites.
I have also recently become involved with e-therapy as well as telephone
therapy. This enables me to help
clients who, for a myriad of reasons, might never make it to a therapist’s
office. You can also find the
e-therapy site under my favorites.
And,
last but not least, due to my positive Internet dating experience, I am planning
on leading a series of workshops on this topic after the first of the year.
So, drop me a line if you’re so inclined!
